Each year the Foundation board of directors decides which programs to fund based on the mission statement and available funds. Strong support is always considered for the Junior Program and scholarships to allow talented youth to compete effectively.

In 2006, the grants were as follows:

$7,500 – Mission Bay Aquatic Center Sailing Scholarships
$7,000 – Local High School Sailing Teams
$1,750 – SDYC-PV Race Web Tracking Equipment
$1,500 – Southwestern Yacht Club Sailing Scholarships for At-Risk Youth
$1,457 – OPTIMIST/PENINSULA YMCA Sailing Outreach
$1,000 – Grant to UCSD sailing team     
$   750 – Grants to S.D. County Team High School Doublehanded Nationals
$   750 – Grants to San Diego County Team Race Nationals
$   750 – Grants to San Diego County Team Singlehanded Nationals

This year, the Foundation is proud to announce the formation of a $200,000 endowment fund to be held at the San Diego Foundation solely for the benefit of the SDYC Junior Program. This “seed money” will be used to foster other member donations and ensure the continued success of our world –class Junior Program.
